The Power of Suggestion
The power of suggestion is much more powerful than I anticipated. Allow me to explain. This week we had to complete a relaxation exercise. This exercised involved listening to an audio track in which the voice told us to divert the flow of blood from our abdominal area/digestive tract to our arms and hands. Before attempting to divert the blood I didn't think I would actually be able to; but I was wrong! How do I know I actually diverted blood? Well I'm glad you asked. Before starting this exercise my hands were cold and after they were warm! Not even a slight chill. The increase in temperature is proof that my hands received an increase in blood flow than what they were already receiving. I thought that was amazing! Just by thinking about more blood flowing into my hands my body reacted. Anyway, that's all for my reflection. Did anyone else experience this same thing?

I agree, it is amazing the things we can accomplish when we put our mind to it and take away the other distractions of life. Finding time to dedicate our precious time in today's society is one of the major issues. I loved your description of your experience and can also attest to this from past meditative exercises. I also experienced deep relaxation and felt I was able to fairly easily relax the parts of the body as he described them. Have you had any previous experiences with relaxation techniques or meditation? Will you use this kind of technique again?
ReplyDeleteGood post.
ReplyDeletemy relaxation techniques are lighting candles, reading, or playing soft music. I also pray to help ease my mind. Life can be too overwhelming sometimes.
